Hardscape & Masonry

Patios, walkways and walls, built in stone on proper base work, to last.

Stone is the part of the landscape that has to be right the first time. Patios, walkways, retaining walls, fieldstone and granite: we build them on proper base work, with drainage thought through before the first stone is set.

Some of our favourite work is reclaimed: relaying a cobblestone walk in its own granite, or setting new stone against a wall that has stood for a century. Built work should look like it belongs to the property, not to a catalogue.

Questions, answered.

What owners ask about hardscape & masonry before the first walk of the property.

Do you repair existing stonework?

Yes. Relaying, resetting and rebuilding existing stone is regular work for us, reclaimed cobblestone and fieldstone included.

Patio or deck?

It depends on the site: the grade, the drainage and how the space meets the house. We build both, so the recommendation is about the property rather than the trade we happen to sell.

When can stone work be built?

Most of the year. In Massachusetts the deep winter months go to planning and drawing, so stone work is ready to break ground when the frost is out.

What does a patio or walkway cost?

Every site is different, so we quote from a walk of the property rather than a price sheet. The consultation is free and carries no obligation.
